Moderator on Green Panel at Book Expo AmericaJune 3, 2005, 11:00 amJacob Javits Center in New York City. Room 1E17
Please join us at BookExpo to learn more about this rising opportunity. More and more publishers are printing on paper that helps to protect the Endangered Forests and preserve natural resources. But how many of those publishers use that fact in their marketing? How many retailers think to make books on environmental paper stand out in the store? Many consumers would like to know that the books they hold in their hands actually saved ancient trees, the eco systems they come that sustain all living creatures.
In this session, participants will explore the opportunities for publishers to distinguish themselves though their environmental responsibility, starting with their paper choices.
Speaker(s): Martin Rowe, Publisher, Lantern Books[Moderator] Dave Weich, Dir of Marketing & Dev, Powell's [Panel] Judy Galbraith, Publisher, Free Spirit Publishing [Panel] and Alice Blackmer, Dir of Publicity, Chelsea Green (panel).
The session is being offered by Green Press Initiative, a nonprofit program working to create paper use transformations in book publishing that will help to protect and preserve Endangered Forests and natural resources. Powells.com, third largest online bookseller, is recognizing over 700 titles from publishers with Endangered Forest policies and on paper that meets GPI’s recommended standards. Over 80 U.S. publishers have made formal commitments to meet the paper use standards set by Green Press Initiative. You can too.
